I have fallen in love with bringing new life and color into both neglected pieces and new custom-built pieces. I started off on a fluke by making custom tables of all sizes from industrial cable reels. My husband sells electrical supplies and I would see these reels at their warehouse sitting outside falling apart waiting to be hauled off and thought; surely, I can do something with them. You should have seen my husband's face when I asked him to bring one home! Ha! From there I ventured into restoring and refinishing vintage, antique and unique furniture pieces and that is where the true love affair of working with my hands blossomed! I have now ventured into working with epoxy and boy am I hooked!! From custom countertops, river tables, customizable coffee and dining tables and even jewelry!
Never would have dreamed we would be doing this, but is has been a true blessing. My husband, Chris, is my best friend and both partner in life and business. He is my muscle, my carpenter and my biggest supporter - except when I ask "what do you think of this color, babe?" Then I just get a blank stare, ha-ha. We named our company KC Faith Designs for Kelly and Chris stepping out in faith in this and all ventures.
I often think of my dad, who passed away in 2003, when I am using a power tool, table saw, etc. or trying to figure out how to fix a broken piece. He was a contractor, carpenter and all around 'fix anything man', who felt just because something was old, didn't mean it couldn't be salvaged or made useful again. And no project was too big or too difficult, there's always a way with hard work and dedication. I have a visual that he is smiling and maybe chuckling at times, that his baby girl would be doing this kind of work!
But considering I was the only girl with two older brothers and have two absolutely amazing young men of my own, no wonder I like to play with power tools...and be able to paint with pink sometimes!
Being creative and working with my hands has been very therapeutic too. Over the last few years I have been diagnosed with Lupus, Fibromyalgia, and Chiari Malformation which is basically the back of my brain is slipping down into my spinal column. Told my husband my brain is just so big it doesn't fit in my skull! Ha! It requires surgery on the brain and spine, sorta putting that one off for now! lol Several other issues but everyone has their struggles, what matters is how we respond to them. My faith in God and the support of my family and friends has me grateful every single day. Even on bad days there is so much to be grateful for. This business allows me to create and to meet amazing people that I count as friends.
Thanks for visiting my page and I would love to help bring a one of a kind piece of art into your home.
Blessings,
Kelly
